We'll explore what you can expect, helping you make an informed decision for your next journey within or beyond New Hampshire.
Hertz Car Rental at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) is conveniently located at:
1 Airport Rd # 300, Manchester, NH 03103, USA
This address places Hertz directly within the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport complex, specifically in the Consolidated Rental Car Facility. Upon arrival at MHT, customers typically follow signage for "Rental Car Return" or "Ground Transportation" to locate the rental car counters. The facility is usually a short walk from the main terminal, making it highly accessible for air travelers.
For New Hampshire locals driving to the airport to pick up a rental, MHT is easily reachable via major routes like I-93 and I-293, which provide direct access to the airport exit. The airport's proximity to downtown Manchester and other surrounding communities makes this Hertz location a convenient choice for those residing in the greater Manchester area, Nashua, Concord, and even southern New Hampshire. When returning a vehicle, customers will follow signs for rental car returns within the airport grounds, typically leading to a designated area in Lot A near the Consolidated Rental Car Facility. The operating hours for Hertz at MHT are generally extensive, often from 8:00 AM to 11:59 PM daily, providing flexibility for both early morning and late-night pick-ups and returns.
Hertz Car Rental at MHT offers a wide array of services designed to cater to diverse customer needs:
Extensive Vehicle Fleet: Customers can choose from a broad selection of vehicle categories, including economy cars (e.g., Chevrolet Spark, Kia K4), compact cars, intermediate/standard sedans (e.g., Chevrolet Malibu, Mazda 3), full-size sedans, a wide range of SUVs (e.g., Nissan Rogue, Chevrolet Equinox), minivans, and specialty vehicles like luxury cars, convertibles, and even electric vehicles. This diverse fleet ensures that whether you need a fuel-efficient car for city driving or a larger SUV for navigating New Hampshire’s varying terrain and weather, you can find a suitable option.
Flexible Rental Periods: Hertz accommodates various rental durations, offering daily, weekly, and monthly rates. This flexibility is beneficial for both short trips and extended stays or temporary vehicle replacements.
One-Way Rentals: For those whose travel plans involve different pick-up and drop-off locations, Hertz typically offers one-way rental options, allowing for seamless travel across states or different New Hampshire cities.
Hertz Gold Plus Rewards: This loyalty program provides benefits such as expedited pick-up and drop-off, allowing members to bypass the counter and go straight to their vehicle at select locations. Members can also earn points for free rental days and upgrades.
Optional Coverage and Products: Renters have the option to purchase various protection plans, including Loss Damage Waiver (LDW), Liability Insurance Supplement (LIS), Personal Accident Insurance (PAI), and Personal Effects Coverage (PEC). Additional amenities like GPS navigation systems, child safety seats (infant, toddler, and booster), and SiriusXM satellite radio are also available for an extra fee.
Fuel Options: Hertz offers different fuel service options, including pre-paying for a full tank, refueling the vehicle yourself before return, or having Hertz refuel it for a service charge.
When evaluating Hertz Car Rental at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT), it's important to consider both the brand's general offerings and specific customer feedback from this location.
Convenient Airport Location: Being situated directly at MHT provides unparalleled convenience for air travelers and local residents alike who are looking for seamless transitions from air to ground transportation. The ease of access from major highways further enhances this convenience.
Diverse Fleet Options: Hertz generally provides a good range of vehicles to choose from, catering to various travel needs and preferences, from compact cars for efficient city driving to larger SUVs suitable for New Hampshire's scenic routes and winter conditions.
Potential for Service Delays: Customer reviews indicate that long lines and insufficient staffing can lead to "extremely long" wait times, with one customer noting that the counter was "managed by one person who likes to tell stories and increase wait times." This suggests that efficiency at the counter might be an area of concern, especially during peak travel periods.
Vehicle Condition and Cleanliness Concerns: Several reviews highlight significant issues with vehicle condition and cleanliness. One customer reported receiving a car that was "unsafe to drive" with "bald, damaged tires," causing it to get "stuck multiple times" and perform "God awful" on the highway. This same vehicle also had "food debris," a "crusty brown substance all around the shift handle and white stains on the driver side seat." Such feedback raises serious concerns about pre-rental vehicle inspection protocols and cleanliness standards at this branch.
Customer Service Responsiveness (Post-Rental Issues): A major point of dissatisfaction from customer feedback involves the lack of effective post-rental support. Customers found "no easy way of contacting via email or chat" for support, with attempts to resolve issues going to a "voicemail box that’s full with no one answering during business hours." This indicates a potential struggle in providing timely and effective resolution for issues once the rental has begun or after drop-off, leading to significant frustration regarding safety concerns and billing discrepancies.
Lost and Found Issues: The inability to contact the branch for forgotten items ("no way to make contact with the branch") after dropping off a vehicle is another area of concern for customer support.

For New Hampshire residents, Hertz Car Rental at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) represents a primary option for accessing rental vehicles due to its strategic location and the overall convenience of an airport facility. Its accessibility from major interstates makes it a practical choice for those living in Manchester, Nashua, Concord, and surrounding towns who need a car for air travel connections, temporary vehicle replacement, or leisure trips across the state. The wide array of vehicle types is certainly an advantage, allowing locals to select a car that meets their specific needs, whether it’s a compact sedan for city errands or a more robust SUV for navigating New Hampshire's scenic byways and challenging winter conditions.
However, potential local renters should proceed with a thorough understanding of the challenges highlighted in recent customer reviews. While the convenience of location and variety of vehicles are appealing, serious concerns regarding vehicle safety and cleanliness, coupled with difficulties in receiving responsive customer support for post-rental issues, are significant considerations. It is strongly advised for New Hampshire locals to meticulously inspect any rental vehicle for safety and cleanliness before driving off the lot, document any issues with photos, and insist on immediate resolution or a vehicle swap for any major concerns. Maintaining clear communication and keeping detailed records of all interactions, especially concerning returns and potential billing discrepancies, will be crucial. By taking these proactive steps, locals can still utilize Hertz at MHT for their transportation needs, benefiting from its convenient location while mitigating potential frustrations and ensuring their safety on New Hampshire roads.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Please correct and articulateI traveled with a friend of mine who was renting for the past 3 weeks decided to rent again for an additional month and had to start a new contract. He dropped off a Hyundai Elantra and they said that he could not keep the vehicle and put him into a Chevy Impala. It was told to him was the only vehicle available even though a reservation had been made days before. After leaving the airport the car was unsafe to drive. We had gotten stuck multiple times and driving on the highway was God awful. To add o the horrible experience the interior of the car had food debris, there was a crusty brown substance all around the shift handle and white stains on the driver side seat.Thankfully he accidentally left a pair of reading glasses in the car he dropped off and they called him to let him know. He explained the situation with the car and they offered to return and swap out. The drive back was white knuckled driving. Had to pay for gas to fill the tank up again. Once back at the agency in Manchester in which the drive was from Townsend Massachusetts. One of the attendees treated Mark like He was making up how bad the driving was in that car. Mark explained he would not allow his children to enter the car because of how unsafe it was. They ended up giving Mark back the car he originally dropped off and it was like night and day.It was unfortunately a bad experience all the way around. The day not only created much unexpected stress and additional expenses but Thrifty did not do anything to compensate for the terrible experience that renting out an unsafe car caused. Including having to buy more gas in order to return the vehicle. What happened to providing the Wow experience.02/20/2025So this morning I attempt to contact support via the website as suggested. In hopes of getting some assistance in this matter. Of course there is no easy way of contacting via email or chat. Basically self service tools. Amazing how as a customer there is such a lack of respect for our services. This issue is based on safety, loyalty and mental wellbeing and I am told to respond to a link that does does not provide actual assistance. Feels like the reply from Thrifty/Hertz was done so in order for them to look good without actually doing anything to address the issue of what happened to us this past Sunday because of their lack of awesome customer service and support. The car has already been paid for in advance so as long as they have received payment customer satisfaction is of non importance to them.Very dissatisfied with the entire approach of rectifying this situation.
Feb 20, 2025 · Richard CassidyThe line for picking up your car is extremely long and managed by one person who likes to tell stories and increase wait times. When you finally get your car, it’s gonna have trash in it from the previous renter. And then when you realize you forgot something in the car after dropping it off, your call is gonna go to a voicemail box that’s full with no one answering during business hours and no way to make contact with the branch.
Jun 10, 2025 · Bill KeeganHope your flight isn't delayed past midnight. Even if you email the office to let then know about a 12 hour delay, they will pretend there is no vehicle available, and they will call the police on you. And despite no alcohol being involved, the employee will say "have another drink." Whoever manages this station has a lot of work to do.Don't try calling then either as it goes straight ti voicemaill
Apr 12, 2025 · Steven FlaggThe Hertz Rental Car office at Manchester Airport is fantastic. In Boston, we had been given a non-four wheel drive car, as reserved, for our ski trip to Vermont. About an hour into the drive we noticed the mistake. Given the forecast of 15” of snow in Vermont, we knew we had to get a new rental. Pat, the manager at the Manchester airport, kindly found us an appropriate car for our trip. With much appreciation, he has earned a 5 star rating.
Feb 17, 2025 · Kenzie ManetzIt's the airport, if you are flying it's probably fine, but as a local, really not convenient. No parking and airport restrictions. The indoor counter is closed so you have to go out to the garage to their little shed. Once you find the shed, you wait in the cold. Pick up day the guy was fine but definitely not welcoming or friendly. Did the minimum and went about his day. Car was nice, not particularly clean, picture of the seat at pick up for reference, but again fine. We had a great trip. Drop off day a second guy was prompt, very friendly, what customer service should be, made sure everything was good and that we were happy with experience. When I got home I realized we left a souvenir in the car. I fully understand that was our mistake, but we raced back to the airport to try to retrieve it. Again, no parking, so not the easiest task. It was right where we left it and we were very happy it was not thrown out. Tolls- be careful when driving through toll booth, yes it is in your agreement, but a few weeks after rental I had an additional charge for tolls. I brought the EZ pass from my own car, thinking that would be fine, but still got an $11 charge for convenience of their toll by plate number service. Paid the $1 on my transponder, and the Hertz plate toll fees. Chose Hertz over competitors bc it was the cheapest option for the large car I wanted. When factoring in insurance and toll charges, no longer the cheaper option. I will stick to my regular local rental company.
