HUB Rent-A-Car Introduce
Hello, Florida residents! When planning your travels around our beautiful state, whether for a quick weekend getaway, a necessary business trip, or simply needing a temporary vehicle, securing a reliable and transparent car rental is paramount. In a bustling city like Miami, the choices for car rentals are numerous. However, it's crucial to be well-informed about your options to ensure a smooth and fair experience. This article aims to provide an overview of HUB Rent-A-Car in Miami, based on publicly available customer feedback, to help you, as a local user, navigate your car rental decisions with caution and awareness.
While the goal of any content piece is to be engaging and informative, it's equally important to be factual, especially when public data presents significant concerns. In the case of HUB Rent-A-Car, the provided customer reviews contain serious allegations of deceptive practices, including hidden fees, forced insurance purchases, and high toll charges. These accounts paint a picture that contrasts sharply with the ideal car rental experience most Floridians seek. Therefore, this article will lay out the information transparently, empowering you to make the best decision for your transportation needs.
Introduction / Overview
HUB Rent-A-Car is a car rental company with a presence in Miami, Florida, among other locations. Like many car rental providers, they aim to offer vehicles for various needs, from personal travel to temporary transportation. However, it's essential for potential customers, especially locals, to approach this option with caution. The customer reviews provided indicate a pattern of significant issues that have led to highly negative experiences for some renters. These issues primarily revolve around unexpected charges, particularly concerning additional insurance and toll fees, and unsatisfactory customer service.
The information suggests that while the initial quoted price might appear competitive, the final cost can be substantially higher due to mandatory add-ons at the counter. Transparency in pricing and clear communication of terms are fundamental to a positive car rental experience, and the feedback for HUB Rent-A-Car indicates a potential shortfall in these areas. This overview serves as a warning, emphasizing the importance of thorough investigation and direct communication before committing to a rental with this company.
Location and Accessibility
HUB Rent-A-Car is located at 2301 NW 33rd Ave, Miami, FL 33142, USA. This address places them in a specific section of Miami-Dade County. While the physical address allows for a presence in the local market, customer reviews raise concerns about the facility itself, describing it as an "old run down warehouse that was very dirty and suspicious." This description, if accurate, could impact a customer's initial perception and comfort level upon arrival.
For Floridians navigating Miami, accessibility is key. Their location is away from the main airport terminal rental car centers, meaning customers would typically need to arrange transport to their office. While some off-airport rental companies provide shuttles, the reviews for HUB Rent-A-Car do not highlight this as a positive or reliable aspect. Potential customers should factor in the time and effort required to reach this specific location, as well as the reported condition of the facility, when planning their pick-up and drop-off. It is always advisable to use a GPS or mapping application to determine the most direct route from your specific starting point to their Miami office, but also to be prepared for the environment described by past renters.
Services Offered
- Vehicle Rentals: Like any car rental company, HUB Rent-A-Car theoretically offers vehicles for rent. However, the exact types of vehicles and their condition are subject to customer review discrepancies, with some describing cars as "subpar."
- Insurance Sales: A critical point from reviews is the reported practice of refusing to rent a car unless additional insurance is purchased, even when customers may have existing coverage through their personal insurance or credit card. This appears to be a mandatory add-on rather than an optional service.
- Toll Transponder Charges: Customers report being "forced to adopt their transponder" for toll fees, with charges levied at a flat rate (e.g., $25/day or $25 per toll) rather than actual toll usage. Florida has extensive cashless toll roads, and while rental companies often offer toll solutions, these rates appear significantly higher than incurred tolls and are reportedly non-negotiable.
- Online Reservations: Reviews suggest customers can reserve vehicles months in advance, indicating an online booking system. However, the reported issues occur at the point of check-in, contradicting the initial online pricing and terms.
It is important for any prospective renter to verify all terms and conditions directly with HUB Rent-A-Car, specifically inquiring about mandatory insurance, deposit amounts (some reviews for other locations mention high deposits like $2500), and precise toll charging policies, to avoid unexpected costs.
Features / Highlights
- Low Initial Pricing (Reportedly Deceptive): Based on customer feedback, HUB Rent-A-Car might advertise low initial rental prices. However, this is immediately countered by the overwhelming complaint that these low prices are a "scam" due to significant hidden or mandatory charges at the counter.
- Aggressive Up-selling/Mandatory Purchases: A highly negative feature is the reported practice of forcing customers to purchase additional, unnecessary insurance and accept exorbitant toll transponder charges upon arrival, even if they reserved months in advance and believed their agreement was final.
- Poor Customer Service: Reviewers describe the attendant as a "complete jerk" and the experience as involving "rude and not helpful" staff. This points to a severe lack of professionalism and customer care.
- Subpar Facility Conditions: The description of the building as an "old run down warehouse that was very dirty and suspicious" is a significant negative highlight, contributing to an uncomfortable and untrustworthy environment.
- Vehicle Quality Concerns: At least one review described the rented car as "subpar," indicating potential issues with the condition or maintenance of the vehicles.
- Lack of Transparency: The most significant highlight, albeit a negative one, is the pervasive theme of a lack of transparency regarding final costs and rental terms, leading to customers feeling "scammed."
These features, based directly on provided customer reviews, represent serious red flags for anyone considering renting from HUB Rent-A-Car. For comparison, Floridians should be aware that such practices are often highlighted by the Florida Attorney General's office as potential car rental scams, warning consumers about hidden fees, forced insurance, and unclear toll charges.
Contact Information
- Address: 2301 NW 33rd Ave, Miami, FL 33142, USA
- Phone: (305) 826-0366
- Mobile Phone: +1 305-826-0366
Given the nature of the customer reviews, any potential renter is strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and to call these numbers to ask very specific, detailed questions about total costs, all mandatory fees, insurance requirements (and whether existing personal insurance is accepted), and toll policies *before* making any reservation or arriving at the location. It would also be prudent to get any confirmed terms in writing. Due diligence is absolutely critical here.
Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals (with extreme caution)
For Floridians, finding a reliable and trustworthy car rental service is essential for seamless travel and daily needs. However, based on the provided customer reviews, it is imperative to state that HUB Rent-A-Car, as presented through these experiences, appears to be highly unsuitable for locals or anyone seeking a transparent and fair car rental experience. The overwhelming negative feedback describing it as a "scam" due to forced additional insurance, exorbitant and non-negotiable toll charges, rude staff, and a suspicious facility, presents a significant warning.
While the business has a physical address and contact numbers in Miami, these advantages are severely overshadowed by the reported predatory practices. Locals typically seek convenience, clear pricing, and respectful customer service. The reviews for HUB Rent-A-Car directly contradict these expectations, suggesting that engaging with this company could lead to significant financial frustration and a highly unpleasant experience, far from the ease and reliability Floridians expect when renting a car in their home state.
Therefore, based on the provided information, while HUB Rent-A-Car exists as an option in Miami, it is not recommended for locals. Instead, Floridians should prioritize rental companies with a proven track record of transparency, fair pricing, and positive customer service, to avoid the type of "worst experience ever" described by past renters. Always read recent reviews thoroughly, clarify all costs upfront, and understand your insurance and toll options before signing any rental agreement, especially when faced with an offer that seems too good to be true.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This place is a scam. We reserved a vehicle months in advance. When we went to check in they refused to rent the car to us unless we purchased additional insurance. They also wanted to charge $25/day or $25 per toll instead of the actual toll charges we would incur, which would be very few. The building was an old run down warehouse that was very dirty and suspicious and the attendant was a complete jerk. Do NOT rent a car from this company.
Mar 15, 2025 · Jason MontgomeryAgreed! This place is a scam! They offered you a low price for the rental and charge you a lot in toll fees and insurance. They force you to adopt their transponder and the car was subpar. Stay away from them!
Apr 26, 2025 · Carlos Magno CantuáriaI recently had a terrible experience with Hub car rental agency. First off, you will encounter hidden fees that they conveniently forget to mention until you're at the counter. Not only that, but their requirement of $300k liability coverage is absurd and nearly impossible for most people to meet. And guess what? They'll gladly offer you overpriced insurance instead of $39 per day in our case. They don’t let you increase your own insurance coverage as they require it to be active for at least 30 days which is a ridiculous and unreasonable requirement. The staff is incredibly rude and pushy, constantly trying to upsell you on unnecessary extras just to squeeze more money out of you. Save yourself the headache and avoid this shady operation at all costs. We ended up giving up our prepayment and rented from a more reputable rental company at the airport terminal.
