When you're looking to explore the vast and vibrant landscapes of California, having the right transportation is key. For those in the Los Angeles area, or flying into LAX, a reliable car rental service can make all the difference in experiencing everything this incredible state has to offer. NextCar, located conveniently near Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), aims to be your go-to choice for getting on the road.
NextCar offers a range of vehicles designed to suit various travel needs, whether you're planning a quick city trip, a scenic coastal drive, or a longer adventure through California's diverse regions. They strive to provide a straightforward rental process, focusing on getting you into a suitable vehicle with clear terms.
However, as with any rental service, understanding the specific procedures and requirements can significantly enhance your experience. This guide will provide you with all the essential details about NextCar, from their location and services to helpful tips for a seamless rental, keeping the California local's perspective in mind.
Remember, the Golden State is best explored on your own terms, and a reliable rental car opens up a world of possibilities, from the bustling streets of Hollywood to the serene beaches of Malibu and beyond.
NextCar's Los Angeles branch is strategically located to serve both airport arrivals and local residents. You'll find them at:
5250 W Century Blvd # 104, Los Angeles, CA 90045, USA
For those arriving at LAX, NextCar operates an off-airport rental service, meaning you won't pick up your car directly at the terminal. The process typically involves a shuttle service. Upon arrival at LAX, you'll generally need to take a free airport shuttle (often the "LAX Economy Parking" or "Metro Connector" shuttle, identified by pink signs) to the airport car lot or designated waiting area. From there, a NextCar shuttle will pick you up and transport you to their office. It's important to factor in this shuttle time when planning your pick-up and return, especially if you have tight flight schedules. Shuttle service hours may vary, so confirming them in advance is always a good idea.
For local renters, accessing the 5250 W Century Blvd location is straightforward by car, offering a convenient option for those living in the Los Angeles area who need a vehicle for a short period or a longer road trip without the airport hassle.
NextCar provides a variety of services designed to meet different car rental needs:
Diverse Vehicle Fleet: They offer a range of vehicles, from compact cars ideal for navigating city traffic and parking, to full-size sedans like the Toyota Camry for comfortable family travel, and SUVs for more spacious adventures or longer road trips across California's diverse terrains. Luxury vehicles and vans may also be available depending on the location and current inventory.
Flexible Rental Periods: Whether you need a car for a day, a week, or even a month, NextCar offers daily, weekly, and monthly rates to accommodate various trip durations.
Airport Shuttle Service: For travelers flying into LAX, a complimentary shuttle service is provided to transport you between the airport and their off-airport rental location, enhancing convenience for those arriving by air.
Toll Pass Option: For out-of-state renters or those planning to use California's extensive network of tollways and express lanes, NextCar offers a Toll Pass option. This can save you from incurring violation fees by automatically charging tolls to your rental credit card, providing a hassle-free experience on tolled roads.
Insurance Options: NextCar offers various insurance options. While some personal auto insurance policies or credit cards may provide rental car coverage, it's crucial to bring a full-page copy of your insurance declaration page if you plan to use your own insurance, as an insurance card alone might not be sufficient. Otherwise, you may need to purchase coverage directly from NextCar.
Debit Card Policy (with specific requirements): NextCar may accept debit cards for payment, especially for airport renters with a return airline ticket and boarding pass. However, local renters without a boarding pass or return ticket might face different requirements, potentially including a higher security deposit and stricter mileage limits, and may require a major credit card. A one-time debit card fee may apply.
NextCar aims to make your car rental experience as smooth as possible with these key features:
Competitive Pricing: They strive to offer affordable rates, providing value for your car rental needs in the competitive Los Angeles market.
Transparent Policies: While specific terms can be detailed, NextCar aims for transparency regarding their policies, including mileage limits (which can vary significantly for local renters versus out-of-state renters with airline tickets), fuel policies, and potential fees for additional drivers or late returns.
Variety of Vehicles: From economical compacts for urban exploration to comfortable sedans for longer drives and spacious SUVs for family trips, NextCar endeavors to have a vehicle to fit diverse travel preferences and group sizes.
Customer Service Focus: While experiences can vary, NextCar has been noted for staff members who are friendly and attentive, contributing to a positive start to the rental process.
Convenient LAX Proximity: Being located close to LAX makes NextCar a practical choice for both inbound travelers and local residents who need easy access to the airport's vicinity for car pick-up or drop-off.
For reservations, inquiries, or assistance, you can reach NextCar using the following contact details:

For residents of California, particularly those in the sprawling Los Angeles area, having access to a reliable and convenient car rental service like NextCar can be incredibly beneficial. Whether you're planning a weekend getaway to one of California's many national parks, visiting family in another part of the state, or simply need a temporary vehicle while your car is in the shop, NextCar offers a practical solution.
Its location near LAX makes it accessible for those living in or around the airport vicinity, saving them the trek to a downtown rental office. The diverse fleet ensures that you can find a vehicle suitable for your specific needs, from fuel-efficient compacts for city driving to larger vehicles for family excursions. While some procedures, like bringing a full insurance declaration page or understanding mileage limits for local renters, require attention, these are common practices in the car rental industry designed to ensure a smooth process for all parties.
For locals considering NextCar, it's wise to plan ahead. Review their specific policies regarding local renters, including mileage allowances and deposit requirements, to avoid any surprises. Taking detailed photos or videos of the vehicle before and after your rental, as advised by experienced customers, is a proactive step that can prevent potential misunderstandings regarding pre-existing damage. Additionally, if you anticipate using California's toll roads, opting for the Toll Pass can be a significant convenience.
Ultimately, NextCar presents itself as a viable option for Californians seeking flexible and accessible car rental services in Los Angeles. By understanding their operations and preparing accordingly, local users can leverage NextCar to unlock the freedom of the open road and explore the Golden State to its fullest.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I rented Toyota Camry from NextCar in LA for 12 days, and my experience was fully positive: car was in good order, everything went as advertised, no unexpected charges. My advice to out-of-state renters that will help you avoid problems and have positive experience:1. If you’re using your own insurance rather than buying it from NextCar, make sure to bring full page copy of your insurance declaration page. Insurance card alone is not sufficient, you would have to buy insurance to be able to rent if this is all you brought. That can more than double the cost.2. Make sure to take walk around video Of the car, and photos of all sides and inside and dashboard. When I was returning, I was asked about damage on the bottom of the front bumper, and I was able to show on photos that the damage was pre-Existing3. Make sure to allow plenty of time for car pick up and return. You will have to take free airport shuttle to the airport cars lot, and then Next car shuttle will pick you up and drive you to the location outside of the airport. Make sure you read instructions that you will get while booking your rentals.4. If you are out of state and planning to use tollways or express lines, Make sure to activate so called Toll Pass option while picking up your car. It is worth $25 it costs to avoid incurring violation fees that can add up to significantly more than this amount. As a result of this option, tolls will simply be charged to the same credit card that you used for rental about a month later and no additional fees apply.
Jun 29, 2025 · Sergey BirgerPancho Jose the shuttle driver was awesome!! He was friendly, attentive, and had excellent service. Thus when we arrived at the office to retrieve the car we reserved I was in a good mood and looking forward to continuing the process. The actual renting a car process is awful though! DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY! They gave our reserved car away even though we prepaid for the car and then they said we needed to read the fine print. What?! How do you give away a car thats reserved and already paid for in full? The group I was traveling with ended up having to request a refund and then find a new rental car sevice while we sat in their office with all of our luggage after an already long day of traveling, thus delaying the rest of our trip.We weren't the only ones with this problem either. Other patrons present were also having the same problem of apparently paying for the reservation and the company giving their car away. How is this acceptable for a rental company to take the payment but not hold a vehicle for you? Nor add any recourse of sending you to another company or calling a partner to provide a vehicle?Pancho Jose has 5 star customer service. So I truly was surprised that the actual office for NextCar/Priceless was so unprofessional and unreliable. I gave the company 1 star only because I cannot give the company 0 stars.
Apr 24, 2025 · Amber JonesPrice gauging on original daily rental quote. Junk fees added boosting cost up a good $400 more. Bogus charges upon returning vehicle such as $150 return fee after handing keys to girl at front office and bringing car to office and not the urine covered garage behind office, bogus fee for filling gas in car when I filled it at Costco upon returning vehicle , filthy vehicle on pick up when told its clean and ready for pick up, told by company on phone to pay for a professional cleaning and submit receipt for reimbursement but they never paid me. I was verbally assaulted on dropping vehicle off to girl at LAX office location and called a profanity. I have it all on video. Company said unauthorized driver dropped vehicle but it was me. I have pics of car parked and I’m in video trying to hand in keys when I was yelled at and told I will drive car in garage which I refused due to the filthy conditions of the stairway and unsanitary bodily fluids throughout. The girl threw the keys at me through the window when I slid them in. This company owes me $150 sneakers in which I threw away after having to step in filthy hallway to get vehicle. Stairwell was urine filled, bodily fluids looked like blood, stench so bad you held your breath. The girl in the office when I went to return the vehicle and handed the keys told me that I was being dramatic when I mentioned not wanting to drive the vehicle vehicle into the garage because I’d have to walk through the unsanitary conditions and her words were well we just painted the hallways Because of this so you’re just being dramatic.Shuttle is null and not scheduled frequently enough to accommodate customers. Had to pay uber to get to airport. They force bogus fees on you as you pick up vehicle, because you are stuck at an off airport location in very bad part of LA. My kids were at airport waiting until I could pick up car as shuttle can’t accommodate your party so no choice but take vehicle. I had to inspect vehicle in a dark garage that was very unsafe and stunk of urine. I had to drive out just to feel safer and couldn’t inspect until out if area. Car was disgustingly filthy inside. Unsanitary. I specifically asked the girl in the office upon picking up the vehicle and her handing the keys to me, is the car clean and she said yes it is clean and ready for you Which was an absolute lie. They take returned vehicles from customers, and they just keep renting them out one after the other, and they never clean them. It was very clear to me that the condition of this vehicle upon how dirty it was that it was never touched, and it was just handed over to me, filthy from the previous renter.I complained about this first thing with a phone call and I was told by customer service in which they actually outsource these phone calls to people that just yes you agree with you tell you that they’re going to help you and someone will reach out to you, however no one reaches out to you. I made an attempts by phone and email without anybody ever getting back to me. When I finally got a return email on the cleaning of the car, which I paid for on my own and was told I would be reimbursed, They never got back to me after they said that they would so that detail of the vehicle cost me $75 on my credit card and I’ve never received anything back.Hours of operation are inconvenient on purpose so they can charge you drop off fees after hours. You can’t return vehicle in a dark garage unsafe full of vagrants and filth. No shuttle barely and they advertise different but then rules change on shuttle as they feel. This company I am fighting to get money refunded on the treatment I was put through and fake fees added in. They have credit card info and illegally just keep charging you. My teen cried after we tried to drop off car as the girl called me a b*tch and yelled at me. Very stressful. Please Do NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Fraudulent behaviors. They usename PRICELESS car rentals and ampmcarrentals. Priceline.com promotes this company on their site which is why I thought reputable company. BEWARE.
Oct 02, 2024 · Studio BisouxWe chose this company for the reasonable price. Obtaining the car was fairly smooth. The return was awful. Bad information was given and there was no one there to assist. They were closed. Upon calling the service number we were told they had changes their hours and not their paperwork. We had received several auto-generated text messages, none if which indicated any changes. We had to order and pay for an Uber to make our flight. We will never use them again!!
May 28, 2025 · Verlondon Harris III would give ZERO stars if I could!!!! They told me the car was full of fuel, it had 279mi till empty. When I filled, it filled to 413mi. Till empty!!! The windshield was so dirty I could hardly see out of it, had to pull over and buy stuff to clean it on the inside. Then when I returned the car they said they would have to charge me because there was sand on the back seat, charged me 200 dollars! (Amazingly the same amount as my deposit)! I reserved a "mid sized suv" I got a Nissan kick not even comparable in size to the Santa Fe they said I was renting! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY....I WONT SAVE YOU MONEY!!!
