For many residents across Michigan, particularly in the bustling Detroit metro area, accessing reliable transportation can be a critical need. This is especially true for individuals requiring specialized services, such as non-emergency medical transportation or paratransit. In Dearborn, Michigan, one such provider is Regency Transportation, located on Seymour Street. This article aims to provide a clear, factual, and informative overview of Regency Transportation for our local users in Michigan, from their perspective. We'll delve into their services, their location and accessibility, and important considerations to help you make informed decisions about your transportation needs.
Regency Transportation positions itself as a family-run paratransit company dedicated to providing curb-to-curb non-emergency transportation. This type of service is distinct from a typical "car rental" in the sense of self-drive vehicles; instead, it offers chauffeured transportation, often with specialized vehicles for clients with specific mobility needs, such as those using wheelchairs. Understanding this distinction is vital for Michigan residents seeking transportation services for themselves or loved ones. The focus is on facilitating access to essential appointments and events, ensuring clients reach their destinations safely and comfortably.
Regency Transportation is situated at 4300 Seymour St, Dearborn, MI 48126, USA. This location in Dearborn, a prominent city in Wayne County, Michigan, places it strategically to serve a wide area within the Metro Detroit region. Dearborn itself is a hub, easily accessible from major freeways, making the office location relatively convenient for those who might need to visit in person for inquiries or arrangements.
For Michigan residents living in Dearborn, Detroit, Allen Park, Melvindale, or other surrounding communities, the Seymour Street address is within a reasonable distance. Being a local service, their operations are centered around serving the immediate and broader Wayne County area. Accessibility to their services, therefore, hinges on their ability to dispatch vehicles efficiently across this region for pick-ups and drop-offs. Given that their primary service is scheduled transportation, the physical location acts more as an operational base rather than a walk-in rental counter.
Regency Transportation specializes in non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) and paratransit services, catering to clients who require assistance getting to various destinations. Their scope of services includes, but is not limited to:
- Non-Emergency Medical Transportation: This is a core service, focusing on transporting clients to healthcare facilities, doctor's offices, dialysis centers, rehabilitation centers, and physical therapy appointments. They aim to provide a crucial link for individuals needing regular medical care but facing mobility challenges.
- Wheelchair Transportation: A significant aspect of their service is catering to non-ambulatory clients, meaning they are equipped to transport individuals in wheelchairs. This often involves specialized vehicles with ramps or lifts to ensure safe and comfortable boarding and disembarking.
- Sedan Transportation: For ambulatory clients who require reliable, chauffeured transport, Regency Transportation also offers sedan services. This provides a professional and comfortable alternative to personal driving or traditional ride-sharing for various appointments.
- Transportation for School Kids: They offer services to schools, ensuring children reach their educational institutions safely.
- Transportation for Adult Day Cares and Nursing Homes: Facilitating transport for individuals attending adult day care programs or residing in nursing homes, helping them access services and maintain their routines.
- Transportation to Family Events and Gatherings: Beyond medical appointments, Regency Transportation also aims to assist clients and their care aids in getting to family events and social gatherings, promoting community engagement and quality of life.
All services provided are stated to meet Federal Transit Administration (FTA) requirements, indicating a commitment to regulated standards. Services are typically scheduled on a “next day” advanced reservation basis, with some provision for “same day” requests, subject to availability.
While Regency Transportation aims to provide essential services, it's important for Michigan locals to consider both the intended features and documented customer experiences:
- Specialized Paratransit Focus: A key highlight is their specialization in non-emergency medical transportation and wheelchair services, which fills a vital need for many in the community who cannot use standard transportation. They offer curb-to-curb service, implying direct assistance from the client's location to their destination.
- Trained Staff and Compliance: The company states a commitment to employing a "top-notch professional staff" trained to handle trips with "warmth, compassion, and punctuality," and that services meet FTA requirements. This suggests an intention to provide quality, regulated care.
- On-Time Performance Goal: Their stated process includes drivers arriving within a designated pick-up window and not pressuring riders to leave earlier than scheduled. This indicates an aim for punctuality and client comfort.
- Operational Challenges Reported: It is crucial for potential users to be aware of recurring themes in customer feedback. Reviews highlight significant concerns regarding reliability and organization. Instances where transportation was missed for critical doctor's appointments, a lack of responsiveness to calls and voicemails, and issues with driver conduct (e.g., distracted driving, speeding on icy roads, rude greetings, and vehicle maintenance problems) have been reported by customers. These experiences suggest inconsistencies in the delivery of service and training, which are serious considerations for anyone relying on transport for vulnerable individuals.
- Communication Issues: The inability to reach the company by phone or receive returned voicemails, as mentioned in a review, points to potential communication breakdowns that can be highly frustrating and detrimental when scheduling critical services.

Their focus on transporting individuals with mobility challenges to essential appointments, schools, and even family events addresses a critical community need that standard taxi or ride-share services often cannot accommodate. The availability of wheelchair-accessible vehicles and a stated commitment to client comfort are valuable aspects of their offering.
However, it is equally important for Michigan residents to approach utilizing Regency Transportation with caution and due diligence. The severe and consistent negative feedback regarding reliability, missed appointments, communication failures, and concerns about driver conduct and vehicle maintenance cannot be overlooked. While the service type is vital, the documented experiences of unreliability and poor customer service are significant drawbacks.
Therefore, while Regency Transportation exists to provide essential services for Michigan residents, prospective clients and their families should exercise extreme care. It is highly advisable to thoroughly investigate current reviews, speak directly with the company to clarify their processes for ensuring reliability and addressing concerns, and perhaps consider contingency plans. For a loved one needing critical, reliable transportation, careful consideration and direct verification of their current service standards are paramount before committing to their services.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The service here is HORRIBLE! My father is in a wheelchair and this company is totally unreliable in getting him to his doctor's appointment. They have missed picking him up MANY times because they are unorganized. I have been calling them today to confirm the appointment and no one answers the call or returns my voicemails. IF YOU HAVE A LOVED ONE AND NEED RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION, GO ELSEWHERE. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
Aug 10, 2023 · Melinda AndersonDriver messing with his phone texting and not paying attention to the road. It’s icy out here and he driving fast. And the van has problems to address. Your drivers need better training for clients. We shouldn’t have to be greeted nasty, regardless of where we going. And this driver you have ,complaints have been made about him and also clients have talked amongst each other and realized it’s the same guy.
Jan 25, 2022 · poohski a.k.a Dippo JohnsonI will never ever. tell my family or friends about this company. The service was terrible. I live 8 blocks away from the hospital. The new driver drove 15 miles from my house. Then he said where are you going. Black dodge Van. The driver is handicap, one of his leg was shorter than the other. Never ever, the worst.
Nov 10, 2020 · Famb3I was driving on the highway when I noticed a van with the name regency transportation. The gentleman was driving over 90 mph and almost hit my car. I was only going 70 and the Van darted past me swerving while on the phone. The number on the van was 37. I called to report and the lady who answered said she was the manager (The name she gave was Nicole) after saying initially that she wasn’t. I asked respectfully why it seemed she was getting an attitude with me for simply calling and reporting.Again guys I was literally just driving and saw how this company operates. I manage properties downtown in Detroit and HIGHLY discourage anyone using this service. These are the type of companies we need extracted. Take care guys!Blessings,Lee
Sep 23, 2020 · Lee JohnsonIf I could give NO STARS..This is not a company so I will not address as such. Unfortunately, when you have to use your insurance transportation you should have an option in what company you can use. I guess in Detroit you get the worst of the litter. As a entity who wants to provide a service to the public I could (really don’t want to)how they conduct themselves in other aspects of life. Usually the way you handle business is a reflection of who you are in general. LATE LATE AND LATE, rude and unsafe driver, replacement or major repairs on vans. Why would we waste our time in writing reviews. Apparently they are not taken into consideration. The only reason(s) they don’t care1. Majority of the clients don’t have their own transportation or can’t drive at the moment.2. Their bid was the lowest and they are not doing any extra anything that will Interrupt their profit. period regardless if it as the patients expense. You should not get involved with the public if you don’t have integrity.
