U-Save Car & Truck Rental Introduce
For residents across the vast and varied state of Florida, having access to reliable transportation is more than just a convenience – it's often a necessity for navigating daily life, exploring the state's many attractions, or simply getting around when your personal vehicle is unavailable. In the bustling city of Miami, a key player in the car rental market is U-Save Car & Truck Rental. This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of this particular branch, focusing on its services, accessibility, and critical considerations for local Floridians.
U-Save Car & Truck Rental is part of a larger franchise network that has been operating since 1979, aiming to provide vehicle rental services at affordable rates. Their presence in Miami suggests a focus on serving both the inbound tourist market, particularly those arriving at Miami International Airport (MIA), and the local community's need for temporary personal vehicles or trucks for moving and other purposes. While the U-Save brand itself promotes "exceptional service at affordable rates," it is essential for customers to consider the experiences reported by specific local branches. This deep dive into the Miami location will help prospective renters make informed decisions.
The importance of accessible and versatile car and truck rental services in Florida cannot be overstated. From daily errands to larger-scale moving projects, having the right vehicle can make all the difference. U-Save Car & Truck Rental, by offering both cars and trucks, attempts to cater to a broader spectrum of needs for Floridians.
The physical address of U-Save Car & Truck Rental in Miami is 4115 NW 28th St, Miami, FL 33142, USA. This location places them within a short distance of Miami International Airport (MIA), which is a common strategy for many rental agencies that cater to airport traffic without being directly on airport property.
For travelers arriving at MIA, reaching U-Save typically involves a shuttle service from the airport. As indicated in customer reviews, there might be a wait time for pick-up. Customers should be prepared to call upon arrival and confirm the shuttle procedure and estimated wait. The proximity to the airport, while offering potential cost savings compared to on-airport rentals, does require coordination for transport to and from the rental office.
For local residents, the address on NW 28th St makes it reasonably accessible from various parts of Miami-Dade County. Its location near major roads in the vicinity of the airport means it can be reached with relative ease for those who prefer to pick up and drop off their rentals away from the direct airport hustle. However, the external appearance of the lot, described as a "used car lot," might be a factor for some customers.
U-Save Car & Truck Rental, as its name suggests, aims to provide a range of vehicle options.
Car Rentals: They offer various car types, likely ranging from economy and compact cars for general use to larger sedans, SUVs, or even luxury vehicles, depending on their fleet availability. Their website mentions popular brands like BMW, Porsche, Toyota, and Nissan, suggesting a diverse selection.
Truck and Van Rentals: A distinct feature is the availability of trucks and cargo vans, catering to moving needs, hauling, or commercial requirements, which is a valuable service for individuals and small businesses in Florida.
Flexible Rental Durations: Customers can typically rent vehicles for daily, weekly, or longer-term periods, providing flexibility for various project lengths or travel plans.
Insurance Policies: It is crucial for customers to understand their insurance options. U-Save's renter policies, as seen from general U-Save information, state that "U-Save Car & Truck Rental does not sell Loss Damage Waivers or Personal Accident Insurance. You must report accidents, theft, and damage as soon as is practicable. The renter and any additional drivers are absolutely liable for any loss or damage to the rental vehicle, even if someone else caused it or the cause is unknown..." This means renters are required to have their own full coverage auto insurance that is valid for the entire rental period. If customers attempt to use their own insurance, the company may try to hold a significant deposit (e.g., $2000) on their credit card, and their own insurance might be a considerable expense (e.g., $109 per day), as highlighted in reviews.
Security Deposits: A deposit is required for rentals, and according to customer feedback, this can be substantial, particularly if using personal insurance.
Mileage Policy: Generally, U-Save policies permit 200 free miles per day, with additional miles charged at $0.35/mile. Unlimited mileage options might also be available depending on the booking.
When considering U-Save Car & Truck Rental, it is important to be aware of both reported positive and challenging aspects:
Vehicle Availability: The ability to rent both cars and trucks is a strong point, catering to a wider range of needs for Florida residents, from personal travel to moving or hauling tasks.
Competitive Pricing (Potential): While customer reviews indicate potential for unexpected fees, the U-Save brand generally aims to offer affordable rates. It's essential to get a clear, all-inclusive quote upfront.
Customer Service Variances: One customer mentioned "Carlos the driver was great," indicating that some individual staff members provide positive service. However, other reviews point to significant issues with the counter service and overall operational transparency, describing it as an "extortionist operation strategy."
Undisclosed Fees & Transparency Concerns: A recurring theme in customer reviews is the issue of "undisclosed fees." Renters reported being charged significantly more than their initial booking, leading to frustration and a feeling of being "extorted." This highlights a critical need for customers to rigorously review all charges and policies before signing any agreement.
Documentation Issues: A major concern raised is the lack of physical documentation, such as vehicle registration or a clear rental agreement, which is highly unusual and problematic. Customers are warned to "Drive at your own risk" due to this lack of proper paperwork. This is a serious red flag for any car rental service and can lead to legal complications if pulled over by law enforcement.
Wait Times and Efficiency: Customers have reported long wait times, both for airport pick-up (over 35 minutes from call) and at the counter (over 45 minutes for each reservation), leading to significant delays and "half of our day is gone."
Credit Card Holds and Deposit Disputes: The practice of holding a large sum on credit cards (e.g., $2000) for those using their own insurance, combined with reported difficulties in getting refunds, indicates potential issues with their deposit policy and processing.
Communication Challenges: Reviews mention a "barely English speaking clerk" and the need to provide information over the phone to a different person, suggesting potential communication barriers and operational inefficiencies.

For residents across Florida, especially those in the Miami area, U-Save Car & Truck Rental at 4115 NW 28th St presents itself as a local option for both car and truck rentals, offering a range of vehicle types that could cater to diverse needs, from moving to temporary personal transportation. Its location near Miami International Airport provides accessibility for a broad segment of the local population.
However, based on the detailed customer feedback, local Floridians considering U-Save Car & Truck Rental should proceed with extreme caution and thorough preparation. While the potential for competitive base rates might initially be appealing, the consistent reports of undisclosed fees, significant credit card holds, long wait times, and particularly the alarming issue of not providing physical rental agreements or vehicle registration, pose substantial risks. For any car rental experience in Florida, transparency and proper documentation are paramount for customer peace of mind and legal protection. Therefore, while U-Save Car & Truck Rental exists as a local option, potential renters are strongly advised to meticulously document everything (vehicle condition, fuel level, initial quote, and final charges), clarify all fees and insurance requirements in writing before confirming, and ensure they receive all necessary physical documentation to legally operate the vehicle. For many Floridians, the risks highlighted in reviews may outweigh the potential benefits, suggesting that exploring alternatives with more transparent and consistently positive customer experiences might be a more suitable approach to securing reliable transportation in the Sunshine State.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1BUYER BEWAREU-Spend much more than what you have booked your car rental for at U-Ssve. Wihile the rental vehicles offered are on a par with other companies, this business is based on deceptive practices. A barely English speaking clerk stationed in an old trailer with U-Save proudly painted on the exterior some years ago will greet you with undisclosed fees. You, tired from the flight and ready to take your rented car be desperately searching for ways to avoid the fees, succumbing to the extortionist operation strategy of this joint at the end. Also, no physical documentation of your rights to operate the rented vehicle such as registration or a rental agreement will be provided. Drive at your own risk.
Apr 18, 2025 · MusicClassicalVideosIt took over 35 min from call to get picked up. If you use your own insurance they try to hold 2000 on your credit card. And their insurance is 109. Even if you paid online. Carlos the driver was great, counter person called in, so we had to give a person over the phone our information and card info. Lot looks like a used car lot. Was waiting at site for over 45 min for each reservation in front of us. Half of our day is gone. And now, I'm fighting to get my money back because this is too much.
Apr 15, 2025 · dee reidIf I could give this company negative stars I would. If you're looking for the worst car rental experience imaginable, this company is it. My experience was nothing short of a complete disappointment and felt like a scam from start to finish.I arrived at Miami International Airport at 9:00 PM. After waiting until 9:30 PM with no sign of a shuttle, I called the number posted at the airport. I was told a shuttle would arrive in 10 minutes then the call was abruptly ended. I continued waiting and spoke with a shuttle driver from another company who mentioned he had already made three trips while I was still waiting. When I told him which company I was waiting for, he warned me that they had a terrible reputation. Unfortunately, he was right. After waiting for over an hour, an employee finally arrived in the very car I was supposed to be renting. Once in the vehicle, I was informed that my personal insurance needed to carry $300,000 in coverage, otherwise I would be required to purchase their insurance at an additional $50 per day. On top of that, I was also told I needed to pay extra for the SunPass toll program. None of these charges were made clear when I made the reservation. The customer service was unprofessional and dismissive, and the hidden fees were outrageous. I was so frustrated and disappointed that I asked to be returned to the airport immediately. This was by far the worst car rental experience I’ve ever had. I would strongly advise others to avoid this company at all costs.
May 04, 2025 · Shynerra FountainI wish I can give them a negative 5! I had a 7 hour layover and decided to see the city. I paid $11 on priceline. When I arrived, we had to waited 30 minutes for the driver (van) to come. The driver said that he went to Burger King to get his breakfast. While driving to the car rental car center, he was on the phone the entire time. While driving! At check in, I had a difficult time with understanding the young lady behind the counter. However we got through it and went to see the city. I returned the car four hours later. I was greeted by the same guy that drove us to the car rental center. I provided him with the keys and we were told to get into the van. While on my trip I received text messages and emails stating the car was not returned. When I returned back to Miami I had another layover and went to USAVE to resolve this. I was told that I should be fine and everything was resolve. However I was charged close to $2500 in fees for the "car not being returned". I eventually got the money back but it took almost two months. I would suggest you stay away from this company. The insurance is ridiculous! And they pressure you to take it.
May 19, 2025 · Christopher HorneWe reserved a car from U-Save through Kayak. When we arrived we found out that they didn't take our type of car insurance. Not a big deal, we just needed to get back to the airport to find a different agency. They seemed under staffed because the shuttle driver moved car and cleaned out vehicles before he would give us a ride back. We had to ask twice when the shuttle went back to the airport before we were acknowledged. On the way back to the airport the driver tried to talk us into a "good deal" on a different vehicle and stopped at an another off site car rental company. We had to ask him a couple times to please just take us back to the airport. When we got off the shuttle he followed us back in and signaled to another gentleman to follow us and offer a "good deal" on a rental. The whole thing just seemed really sketchy and unsafe. The whole rental car floor had a ton of these guys standing around asking people if they needed a rental. Oh and the "good deal" we were offered didn't require insurance and was only about $50 cheaper than going through a car rental company in the airport.
