Victory Rent A Car Introduce
For residents and frequent visitors to Fort Lauderdale and the vibrant South Florida region, the need for a rental car often arises for various reasons – from navigating daily life when a personal vehicle is unavailable to accommodating out-of-town guests or embarking on a Florida road trip. In a market as dynamic and competitive as car rentals in Fort Lauderdale, numerous companies, both large and small, vie for your business. Among these is Victory Rent A Car, located at 217 SW 27th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315.
While the allure of potentially lower upfront prices from smaller, independent rental agencies can be tempting, it's crucial for Florida locals to conduct thorough research and understand the complete picture of what a rental experience might entail. Unlike established national brands with standardized policies, smaller operations can sometimes have varying practices regarding fees, insurance requirements, and customer service protocols. This article aims to provide a factual and informative overview of Victory Rent A Car, drawing heavily on publicly available customer feedback, to help local users make an informed decision when considering their next car rental in Fort Lauderdale.
The car rental experience should be seamless and transparent, allowing you to focus on your journey rather than unexpected complications. From the moment you search for a vehicle to the final return, clarity on costs, pick-up procedures, and company policies is paramount. For Floridians, who often rely on personal transportation for both convenience and necessity, avoiding stressful and costly surprises is a top priority.
This overview will cover Victory Rent A Car's location and how to access their services, typical offerings, and crucially, highlight specific features and concerns that have been consistently raised by real customers. By presenting this information directly, local users can assess if Victory Rent A Car aligns with their expectations for a reliable and trustworthy car rental provider in the Fort Lauderdale area.
Victory Rent A Car is located at 217 SW 27th St, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315, USA. This address places it as an "off-airport" rental location, meaning it is not directly within the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) terminal. For customers arriving at FLL, the company typically offers a shuttle service for pick-up from the airport to their office.
According to shared customer experiences, the pick-up process from FLL involves taking an airport shuttle to the Rental Car Center, and then proceeding to a specific bus stop (e.g., Bus Stop G) to await a shuttle van. It has been noted that these shuttle vans might carry multiple company signs (e.g., "Flexways/Victory Rent a Car"), which can sometimes lead to confusion. A review indicated that they even used the car being rented for the pick-up, effectively charging the customer for the gas used for their own transfer.
For Fort Lauderdale residents not coming from the airport, the 217 SW 27th St location is situated in an area that is generally accessible by local roads. Its proximity to the airport and major thoroughfares suggests convenience for those in the immediate Fort Lauderdale area. However, potential renters should factor in the logistics of reaching an off-airport location and the reported shuttle wait times and procedures when planning their rental.
- Vehicle Rental: Victory Rent A Car offers a range of vehicle types, which may include economy, compact, intermediate, and full-size vehicles. Specific availability and models can vary, as with any rental agency.
- Airport Shuttle Service: They provide shuttle service for pick-up and drop-off to and from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) for customers.
- Online and Phone Reservations: Customers can make reservations through third-party booking platforms (like Expedia.com) or by contacting them directly via phone.
- Basic Insurance Coverage (with specific requirements): Like other rental companies, they offer various levels of protection. However, a significant point to note from customer feedback is that they may have strict requirements regarding the type and coverage limits of personal auto insurance they accept. If a renter's personal insurance doesn't meet these criteria, they may be required to purchase additional, potentially expensive, in-house insurance.
- Additional Equipment: Standard optional add-ons like GPS and child seats may be available, subject to additional fees.
- Allegations of Undisclosed Fees: Multiple customer reviews prominently highlight concerns about additional, non-optional fees that were not disclosed in initial quotes or confirmation vouchers (e.g., "toll activation fee," "VLR fee," "FL surcharge fee," "airport pick-up fee"). These unquoted charges significantly increased the total cost of the rental, sometimes doubling it.
- Last-Minute Cancellations: At least one review indicates instances of last-minute reservation cancellations (e.g., 3 hours before scheduled pick-up) without sufficient notice, leaving customers stranded.
- Controversial "Cleaning Fees" and Alleged Forgery: A serious concern raised by a customer involves an alleged fraudulent charge for cleaning fees after the return of the vehicle, accompanied by claims of a forged signature on a receipt. This led to police and FTC reports.
- Inconsistent Customer Service: While some general online reviews (not provided in the specific prompt, but found through external searches) mention positive experiences, the provided detailed reviews paint a picture of highly inconsistent and, in some cases, severely problematic customer service interactions, including rudeness and prioritization of incoming calls over in-person transactions.
- Insurance Acceptance Issues: The strict and potentially high requirements for accepting personal auto insurance, often leading to mandatory purchase of expensive in-house insurance, is a recurring point of contention.
- Off-Airport Location: Being an off-airport provider requires customers to use a shuttle service, which can add to travel time and logistical complexity, particularly if shuttles are delayed or the process is unclear.
- Perceived Value for Cost: Despite potentially lower initial quotes, the addition of numerous compulsory, undisclosed fees can make the final cost of renting from Victory Rent A Car more expensive than from larger, more reputable agencies.

Based on the provided customer reviews and available public information, Victory Rent A Car at 217 SW 27th St, Fort Lauderdale, presents significant challenges that local Floridians should be acutely aware of before considering their services. While the presence of an off-airport location might initially suggest potentially lower rates, the recurring themes of undisclosed mandatory fees, last-minute cancellations, and serious allegations of fraudulent charges (including forged signatures) paint a concerning picture.
For residents of Fort Lauderdale and the broader Florida region, who value transparency, reliability, and hassle-free service, the experiences described by previous customers with Victory Rent A Car indicate that this company may not be suitable. The reported issues of unexpected charges for toll activation, VLR fees, and cleaning fees—which significantly inflate the quoted price—can lead to financial frustration and a feeling of being misled. Furthermore, the claims of forged signatures and reported police and FTC involvement point to a profound lack of trustworthy business practices.
While every company can have isolated negative reviews, the consistent nature of the complaints regarding pricing transparency, cancellation policies, and post-rental charges suggest a pattern that makes Victory Rent A Car a high-risk choice for local consumers. For Floridians seeking a dependable car rental experience, it would be prudent to exercise extreme caution and consider alternatives from companies with more consistently positive and transparent customer feedback, even if the initial quoted price appears slightly higher. The stress, time, and potential financial and legal complications outlined in the reviews far outweigh any perceived initial savings.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1If your business model includes lying to customers, that can’t be good. On a good day someone renting from this company will be charged twice as much as they were originally quoted, on a bad day you will end up having to file a police report and a report to the FTC. Read on for details.I made a reservation through Expedia.com. My confirmation clearly stated that all fees were already included in the price I paid, except optional additions such as a baby seat, GPS etc. The confirmation also gave a number to call to be picked up from the airport, directions I followed as instructed. I thought it was funny they picked us up using the car we rented, so technically we paid for that gas! When we arrived at the office, I was informed I had to pay an additional $20.99 PER DAY for toll activation fee, which I could not opt out of. I was also charged $6.09 for a VLR fee and $2/day for FL surcharge fee, both of which I thought was included in the price I paid for the reservation since it said all fees were included. There was also $3.90 to pick us up from the airport, even though they used the car we were renting. All in, this doubled the total cost of the rental, making it more expensive than renting from the big reputable agencies. I paid it all and later contacted Expedia and was able to get them to refund me the $157 more I had to pay in undisclosed, non-optional fees. But it doesn’t stop there. A few weeks later they charged me another $100 for cleaning fees. I returned the car with some mud on the outside, but nothing out of the ordinary compared to how I have returned Enterprise, Alamo and Hertz cars in the past. I understand they might be stricter than the big companies with how clean they want their cars returned, no problem there. I then asked for a receipt of the charge and to my surprise they had forged my signature. They used a signature that had no resemblance to any signature I’ve ever used before. This is a federal crime! At no point on the day of the return was I presented any document to sign, so how was that receipt signed? It would be one thing to send the document with the signature field empty, but to send it with a fake signature? I submitted a police report with FLL police, also with the FTC (Federal Trade Comission), then did a credit back on my credit card, which got approved due to the ugly fake signature. In the future I will stay away from small car rentals and go for the big companies even if it costs a little extra, this was not worth my time and stress.
Mar 19, 2025 · Anna NunesMade a reservation over a month ago. This company decided to cancel my reservation 3 hours before I’m scheduled to land, be picked up from the airport by them, and get my car. Not even a 24 hour notice to give me time to find another company!!!!! Will NEVER book through them again they leave you stranded last minute!!!!
Jun 23, 2025 · Cara PayneI had a great experience with victory Rent-A-Car. Mauricio Ortiz was awesome!!!! I can’t say enough about him. He saved us after we were scammed by Advantage which is in the same building as victory Rent-A-Car. Mauricio was so nice and helpful. Thank you! Thank you!
Mar 12, 2025 · Kelly KinseyI had a highly disappointing experience with this car rental service. Upon arrival last Monday, I wanted to cancel my reservation, but was told it was non-refundable, leaving me no choice but to proceed. I opted out of their insurance coverage, choosing to use my own Geico insurance instead, only to be informed that I still had to pay an additional $20 per day. They also mentioned that they would hold my deposit for five business days. The representative read the terms and conditions aloud as I signed, stating that the deposit would be released in five days, which prompted me to trust him.I returned the car on February 22nd at noon to avoid any additional charges. However, after waiting, I discovered that their claim of a five-day return policy was inaccurate; they stated the deposit release would take 15-30 days instead. Despite my signing the terms, I feel misled by their verbal assurance of a five-day return. Moreover, when I called to inquire, I spoke with two employees, Jade and Aberham, who denied my request to speak to a manager. They seemed to rely on scripted responses, dismissing my concerns by saying it wasn't an emergency. Additionally, they charged me for the easy pass separately instead of deducting it from my deposit, increasing my frustration. Aberham advised me to call back in a week regarding the deposit release, which I find unreasonable.Overall, this business seems to thrive on hidden fees and misleading information. I would caution others to avoid this service, as my experience has been frustrating and unsatisfactory. Rent here once, and I doubt you'll return.
Feb 26, 2025 · WoLf__ JoshFlexways Fraud: Stranded, Lied To, and Abandoned by Expedia I recently had the worst car rental experience of my life booking a Flexways rental car through Expedia, and I feel compelled to warn everyone—stay far away from Flexways, Victory Rental Car Fort Lauderdale, and any of these sketchy, non-brand-name rental agencies that have been popping up everywhere. They’re scammers, plain and simple, and Expedia was absolutely no help either.Weeks before my trip in March 2025, I prepaid for a full-size SUV through Expedia, thinking I was dealing with a reputable company that had my back. Big mistake. After arriving at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, I received an email from Flexways instructing me to call a number—no toll-free option provided—to arrange a pickup. So, I called this regular number from my phone, racking up charges on my dime. A guy answered and asked where I was. I told him I’d just picked up my baggage on the ground floor. He then told me to go up to the second floor and call him back. First red flag—why couldn’t he just send someone to where I was?Fine. Two minutes later, I’m on the second floor, calling him again. He says someone will pick me up in 10 minutes. Sure enough, 10 minutes later, a guy pulls up in what’s clearly his personal car—not a shuttle, not a branded vehicle, just some random sedan. Red flag number two: I later find out the number they give customers is his personal cell phone. Unprofessional doesn’t even begin to cover it.We make small talk on the way to the rental agency, and I assume he’s just the car jockey. I’m about to tip him when he casually says, “I’ll be inside in a moment to get you your full-size SUV.” Red flag number three: this guy isn’t just the driver—he’s apparently the entire operation. Inside, there’s a tiny counter, and it’s clear he’s a one-man show. He immediately starts pressuring me to buy insurance for $45 for three days and another $45 for a toll transponder. I explain that I prepaid for insurance through Expedia, and I’m also double-covered through my credit card and home insurance policy—more than enough protection. He flat-out lies to my face, saying, “Those don’t count; it’s the law in Florida that you have to buy insurance from me.” That’s nonsense—I’ve rented cars for 40 years and know better.I ask to see the “full-size SUV” I booked. He takes me outside, and it’s a small SUV—nothing close to what I paid for. I tell him no way, this isn’t what I reserved. His response? “Well, then you can go back to the airport.” He refuses to drive me back, leaving me stranded. After waiting outside for 30 minutes, I finally catch a shuttle from a neighboring rental agency just to get back to the airport. I end up renting from a legitimate company there, but now I’m out the money for the Flexways rental I never even used.I call Expedia to report this nightmare and demand a refund. After an hour on the phone, they say they can’t reach Flexways. Three days later, same story—no progress, no refund. It’s looking like I’m stuck paying for two rentals—one I never picked up and one I had to book to salvage my trip. Expedia, who I thought I was booking through and could trust to back me up, did absolutely nothing to help.In 40 years of renting cars all over the world, I’ve never been ripped off this badly. Flexways is a scam, these off-brand agencies are predatory, and Expedia is useless when things go wrong. My advice? Book directly with a reputable company and avoid these middlemen and shady outfits at all costs. Never again!
