★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We had the absolute worst experience at this Avis location with Freddy.I booked and prepaid a reservation for a rental pickup at 11:45 AM on Sunday (they close at noon.) The week prior to pickup we were at the Scottsdale Resort for a business conference. On Sunday morning (9:30 AM) we called this Avis location to see if it was possible to pick up earlier but there was no answer. We left the conference and ubered over but were told our reservation was at 11:45 and we needed to return, so we went back to the conference and at 10:39 AM I got a call that the car was ready for pickup. At this point, we were back at the resort and in session so we figured we'd return at 11:45 as per the original plan.We arrived at 11:50 AM and Freddy handled our reservation. The reservation was under my name so I asked if we could add my husband as the driver- Freddy said it would be $13 a day to add. I questioned it because I remembered reading something that said spouses didn't count, but I wasn't sure and asked if we could change my husband to the main driver since I was not planning on driving. That was a no. Freddy now said if we're married, no charge. He then asked for the credit card used to prepay the reservation and I took out my husband's business card which was the card used to prepay along with both our drivers licenses. Freddy said the CC on the system was different and rattled off some random numbers. We advised it must be a mistake, we have no card with those numbers. He says "I can't rent you the car unless you provide me with this CC." He shows us in the computer and I realize the number he's giving us is the last four of an authorization code NOT our CC. I look for my original confirmation online and show him PROOF that the CC is my husbands business card as originally shown. At this point, he mentions we can't use that card because it's under his name and the card has to match the reservation name which is mine.At this point, it's frustrating. Not only is he not trying to work with us, it's obvious he's pushing us out because it's past twelve. We express frustration and he mentions these are the rules and if you don't like them there's nothing he can do because it's not his fault. He declines us service and says he's calling the police because he feels we're being aggressive.There was a customer in there who chuckled because Freddy very calmly went from Level 1 to Level I'm calling the police and declining service which made zero sense. We needed Freddy to give us a solution not give us excuses on AVIS rules. I immediately get on the phone with AVIS and rebook my own reservation under my husband with his business card with zero help from Freddy, and the police arrives. Clearly it was a ridiculous call and they knew it. We had a witness to vouch no one was being aggressive and we have video recordings to prove it. Police apologized and said he would try to come up with a compromise for us, and they did.At the end of the day, Freddy...who was rushing to leave by noon, incompetently giving us wrong information whether it be adding a driver for extra money, wrong CC numbers, declining service and doing NOTHING to help out the customer ended up leaving closer to 1 PM over the course of his own actions.He called his manager, police communicated with him and the end result was rent us the car and help us out. Our cards all match, our licenses match, there is NO issue. We got the car, but not without some undue aggravation and lots of stories to share about where NOT to go to rent a car in Scottsdale!

Their first stop was Avis to pick up the car that they'd reserved back in January. They encountered Freddy, who was rude, crass, and extremely condescending. He stated he "had no cars" and "couldn't find their contract." My aunts showed him the contract and called Avis coroporate, who verfified the contract. Freddy's response persisted - "I have no cars." He didn't volunteer to assist in solving the problem, apologize, or make amends. "If you don't like it, leave." That was his response.Upon calling Avis corporate again, we were able to get them a car at another Avis location.Beware of Freddy, everyone. This guy has no business in customer service.
Mar 02, 2025 · Brandon ZaleI prepaid "estimated" charges for a one-week car rental. Once I returned the car, the actual charges I incurred were $75 less than what my credit card was charged for the prepayment. When I called the store to inquire about my refund, I was told I would have to call "customer service," and was given an 800 number to call. The runaround had begun. After being on hold for 45 minutes with "customer service," I was told that Avis/Budget's policy is to not refund for prepayments, but they would offer me a discount on a future rental. I told them I did not want a future rental discount, I wanted to be refunded my money, because I had been charged more than what I actually incurred. 25 minutes later, I had spoken with a supervisor, who told me the same thing. The kicker is that Avis/Budget does not state anywhere that a prepayment is a non-refundable amount. Buyer beware. I will never rent from this Avis/Budget in the future.

I waited outside until my 1300 pickup time from the websites reservation confirmation email and the two females inside thought it was funny and chose to laugh. They even left the open sign on the door indicating at 1245 when I arrived that they were still open. I had made reservations two days prior to pickup and was given no notification as to this locations hours. Terrible people work here.One other thing Id like to mention is how there was a gentleman before me when I originally pulled up at 1238 sitting outside waiting and he was turned away as well. I hope no one comes to this location with the rude behavior of these people(One last edit, if hours for Sunday say you're open until 1300 then shouldn't you start closing after that time and not before so you don't leave customers stranded)
Jun 14, 2020 · C WI booked my rental and was quoted $450. When I returned it, they charged me $1385. I attempted to contact many times and they would only refund $300.EDIT: After many calls to Avis customer service (Israel and Richie) with no justification on why I was billed 300% more than what I reserved the car at, the Avis Social Team did a full investigation on my case and they were able to make me whole. The whole ordeal took nearly 3 months to resolve and Avis phone support was very accusatory and condescending, but the social support team have been very empathetic and understanding. Thanks Avis Social Team (Blake and Haley)!
