Hertz / Uber Vehicle Solutions Introduce
For many Maryland residents looking to join the gig economy, specifically as Uber drivers, securing a reliable and appropriate vehicle is a critical first step. While owning a car outright might not always be feasible, rental programs designed for rideshare drivers offer an alternative. Hertz / Uber Vehicle Solutions at 8115 Belair Rd in Nottingham, MD, is one such option. This location aims to provide vehicles specifically for individuals partnering with Uber. This article will delve into the details of this specific Hertz location, outlining its purpose, services, and, importantly, sharing insights directly from local customer experiences to help Marylanders make an informed decision.
The concept of renting a car for rideshare purposes offers flexibility for drivers who don't want the commitment of car ownership or who need a temporary vehicle. However, the success of such a partnership heavily relies on the efficiency of the rental provider. Understanding the operational aspects, communication channels, and overall service quality of a location like Hertz / Uber Vehicle Solutions in Nottingham is paramount for any aspiring or current rideshare driver in Maryland.
The Hertz / Uber Vehicle Solutions branch is located at 8115 Belair Rd, Nottingham, MD 21236, USA. This address places it in Nottingham, a community within Baltimore County. Belair Road (US Route 1) is a significant north-south thoroughfare in the region, providing relatively straightforward access for residents coming from various parts of northeastern Baltimore County and surrounding areas.
For those in Baltimore City, Towson, Parkville, or White Marsh, accessing this location typically involves navigating local roads and connecting to Belair Road. While not an airport location, its suburban placement can offer easier entry and exit compared to busy city centers. However, being an outlier for many, particularly those without personal transportation to get to the lot, presents a logistical challenge for rideshare drivers. As some customer reviews indicate, getting to and from the location can sometimes incur additional costs (e.g., Uber rides), which can add up if multiple visits are required.
Potential renters should be aware that while the address is in Nottingham, the purpose of this location is primarily geared towards the Uber Vehicle Solutions program, which has specific operational hours and protocols that might differ from standard Hertz car rental branches. It's not a typical Hertz rental counter for leisure or business travelers, and understanding this distinction is crucial for managing expectations regarding accessibility and service.
The Hertz / Uber Vehicle Solutions program is designed to provide vehicles for individuals who wish to drive for Uber. The services offered generally align with this specific purpose, differing from traditional car rentals.
- Rideshare Vehicle Rentals: The primary service is providing vehicles specifically approved for use with the Uber platform. These are typically compact or mid-size sedans suitable for rideshare operations.
- Weekly Rental Structure: Rentals are generally structured on a weekly basis, allowing drivers flexibility without long-term commitments. Renters can typically extend their rentals weekly, up to a certain maximum duration (e.g., 28 days before a required return for maintenance/inspection).
- Included Basic Maintenance: Standard maintenance (e.g., oil changes, tire rotations) is typically included in the rental agreement, aiming to keep the vehicles road-ready for rideshare operations.
- Insurance and Limited Damage Waiver: The rental often includes basic insurance coverage and a limited damage waiver (LDW) for periods when the driver is "off-app" (not actively on a trip or looking for one). Drivers should clarify the extent of coverage.
- Unlimited Mileage (for rideshare purposes): Vehicles rented through this program usually come with unlimited mileage when driving for Uber, which is essential for active rideshare drivers.
- 24/7 Roadside Assistance: Hertz typically offers roadside assistance for its rental vehicles, providing support in case of breakdowns or other issues on the road.
- Vehicle Inspection and Compliance: The program aims to provide vehicles that meet Uber's requirements, including necessary inspections. However, customer reviews indicate that the process of obtaining or confirming vehicle inspection documentation can be problematic.
While the Hertz / Uber Vehicle Solutions program offers the benefit of providing a car for rideshare, customer experiences at the Nottingham, MD location highlight significant challenges and areas of concern:
- Poor Customer Service & Communication: A dominant theme in customer reviews is the "HORRIBLE customer service" and extreme difficulty in reaching anyone for assistance via phone. This lack of communication can lead to significant frustration, wasted time, and financial loss, as reported by drivers unable to inform the location of delays or obtain critical vehicle information.
- Inconsistent Operating Hours/Early Closures: Customers report instances where the location closes earlier than advertised, even with scheduled reservation times, leading to missed pickups and severe disruptions for drivers relying on timely vehicle access.
- Vehicle Availability & Inspection Issues: Drivers have experienced situations where reserved vehicles were not ready upon arrival, leading to extended waits. Furthermore, there are complaints about vehicles not having necessary inspection documents uploaded by Hertz, preventing drivers from immediately starting Uber trips.
- Billing and Financial Concerns: Reviews mention issues with billing transparency, unexpected charges, and lengthy delays in resolving financial discrepancies. One serious complaint details being charged for an additional week months after returning a car, and another involved being stuck with a car with expired tags, leading to a ticket.
- Lack of Management Professionalism: Customers describe a "lack of professional by the manager" and an "inability...to really audit and adjust bills," suggesting systemic issues with management oversight and accountability.
- Challenges with Vehicle Compliance (Expired Tags/Registration): Experiencing problems with vehicle registration or expired tags, as reported by a customer, can lead to fines and inability to drive, directly impacting a driver's ability to earn.
- Lengthy Resolution Times: The time taken to resolve issues, particularly billing inquiries or obtaining necessary documents, is described as extremely long (e.g., three to five business days for email/calls, with actual contact a month later), causing ongoing frustration and financial strain.
These recurring issues indicate that while the program is designed to facilitate rideshare driving, the execution at this specific Nottingham location has significant drawbacks that potential renters, especially those relying on the vehicle for income, should be acutely aware of.

For Maryland locals, particularly those in the Nottingham area and surrounding Baltimore County who are considering becoming Uber drivers, the Hertz / Uber Vehicle Solutions location at 8115 Belair Rd presents a unique proposition. On paper, it offers the convenience of renting a vehicle specifically designed for rideshare work, potentially bypassing the need for personal car ownership and covering aspects like maintenance and basic insurance. This flexibility can be appealing for individuals looking to enter the gig economy without a large upfront investment.
However, based on the experiences of other local users, it is crucial for Marylanders to approach this specific location with significant caution and managed expectations. While the concept of a dedicated Uber rental program is valuable, the pervasive issues reported, including severe communication breakdowns, inconsistent operating hours, problems with vehicle availability and documentation, and substantial billing discrepancies, suggest a challenging customer experience. The accounts of drivers being unable to reach staff, facing closed doors despite reservations, dealing with expired tags, or encountering prolonged billing disputes indicate that this location may create more hurdles than solutions for those relying on the vehicle for their livelihood.
Therefore, while the core service model of renting a car for Uber driving is inherently suitable for locals seeking this specific type of employment, the execution at this particular Hertz / Uber Vehicle Solutions branch in Nottingham appears to fall significantly short of acceptable standards. For Maryland residents, it is imperative to weigh the potential benefits against the consistently reported operational and customer service deficiencies. Thorough research, direct communication attempts, and perhaps considering alternative vehicle solutions for rideshare or traditional rental options, would be strongly advisable to avoid potential financial loss and significant frustration.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1HORRIBLE customer service. You cannot get in touch with anyone if you need assistance. Do not recommend. Everyone please take heed to these reviews to avoid wasting time and money!I decided to become a Uber driver and reserved a pickup time for 4PM for a rental car. I was stuck in traffic and attempted to call the location to inform them that I would be running behind. However I could not reach anyone AT ALL with the number provided. When I get the location I was told that the place was closed and was not accepting anyone else even though they close around 5PM. WHY HAVE A RESERVATION TIME IF YOU CLOSE EARLY? I was able to get a rental car, however I cannot drive passengers because Hertz has not uploaded the vehicle inspection. I have attempted to reach the location to obtain this information yet I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REACH ANYONE. I've never experienced HORRIBLE customer service like this. Unacceptable. This place needs new management or needs to be shut down. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
May 16, 2025 · Ciera KingThe lack of professional by the manager is overwhelming and the inability of them to really audit and adjust bills begs the question why are you here? They had me in a car with expired tags and I got a ticket they had the audacity to give me attitude, and just slap a sticker on. The current car requires new registration they made me stop my day to come there where it’s already like a form of slavery with the high rates, charging fees, and uber fees. Then there is no hertz billing even when you email and call the turn around is estimated three to five business days, i heard from th a month later !
Jun 17, 2025 · Londyn De RichelieuJesus, I’ve never had a worse car rental experience. I arrived for my appointment at 1pm with maybe ten people in front of me, and now almost four hours later I’m still waiting. There are four people here to “help” check people on, but they’ve processed fewer than 3 people per hour while complaining audibly about how stressful it is, and taking breaks.I finally got “signed out” a half an hour ago, and I’m still waiting for the car, having paid for it already, and I’m able to see it out the window. “We can’t deliver it yet.”Meanwhile, the posted hours on the web are 5pm, and on the door they’re 6pm, and yet they closed at 4:30pm and kicked out everybody who arrived after me, and are still needing help. This is where people who get fired from night watchmen jobs go to work, basically. Frankly, I’d prefer they were sleeping on the job, rather than just being so lame like this. It’s a terrible thing to witness and even worse to experience, and makes me wonder: Where in the hell is management here?
May 02, 2025 · Brad WerntzThis was one of the most unprofessional and uncomfortable business experiences I’ve had in a while. From the moment we walked in, the staff was condescending, dismissive, overly playful with one another which read unprofessional, and generally unhelpful. Instead of assisting us with what we came for, the staff member seemed more interested in pushing us to open a bank account with one of their “friends” (Ms Kim) at a bank down the street. After speaking to us to poorly, this gesture came across sketchy and completely inappropriate. The entire interaction felt rude, shady and untrustworthy, and it seemed the staff member cared more about their own side deals than helping customers. Not to mention when you Google the location, a Reddit thread pops up advising folks to be aware of Hertz scamming its customers, some with nearly identical experiences to what we had.I could give the benefit of the doubt and say she was trying to be helpful with the bank reference and I completely understand customer service employees are used to dealing with difficult customers but this was OUR first experience with this location and this staff. So between being shocked with 2 different staff members’ tone/communication, being told they have a personal bank connection we should use, AND seeing the bad reviews, and scam accusations, it doesn’t make sense to give them grace. If you’re considering doing business here DON’T.
